MLK Day of Service, January 19th!

We are looking forward to our MLK Day of service on Monday, January 19!  Projects are filling fast.  To register, click HERE.

We also wanted to make families aware that there has been some interest in the MLK D.A.R.E march that is occurring downtown in support of educational equity, judicial equity and economic equity. Lauren Kahn, an Upper School parent, would like to know how many AFS families might be interested in meeting up and traveling downtown together for the march.  If you are interested or have questions, please contact Lauren at lgkahn@comcast.net.

In preparation for the day of service, we are collecting the items listed below:
Clean, gently used clothing and shoes for all ages
Clothing sale to benefit the Women’s Center of Montgomery County

Winter Care Kit Items (new) to benefit Whosoever Gospel Mission
Small hand lotions           Soap
Men’s socks                  Chapstick
Shampoo                  Combs
Washcloths                  Men’s deodorant

Used books of all types
Board books are especially appreciated.

Drop off locations are clearly designated in the Lower School lobby and the Stewart lobby in Upper/Middle School.  Thank you so much!!!

We have numerous projects from which to choose!   Projects include: Aid for Friends meal preparation, game and activity creating for St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital, cookie decorating for Whosoever Gospel Mission, blanket making for Mitzvah Circle, soup making for the Breathing Room Foundation, and a clothing sale to benefit Women’s Center of Montgomery County.
