In November, one of the kindergartners brought in a news
article to share with the class about the plight of wild tigers throughout the
world. She was so moved that she
wanted to do something to help.
After talking with her mom, she presented the idea of holding a bake
sale to raise money to help. Our
class wholeheartedly agreed!
Next, the project needed approval from Andrea. A small committee met with Andrea one
afternoon outside of our classroom and presented the proposal. Andrea thought it sounded like a
fabulous idea and came in to discuss what would be involved in putting on a
bake sale. We made a list and set
a date.
Then, our kindergartner and her mom and younger brother met
with us to make the final decisions about our project. We went through our original list, agreed on the details, and felt
ready to go.
The students created thoughtful signs which are hanging
throughout Lower School, our parents are signing up to help provide the snacks
and next week…
On Thursday, January 29th in the Lower School
Lobby, Kindergarten will host a snack sale to raise money for the World Wildlife
Fund’s Tiger Campaign. A young
girl’s idea rippled through her class, to the Lower School Director, out to the
LS community and it will reach out into the world to make a difference
in the lives of wild tigers.
Simply amazing, powerful and wonderful!!
