Second grade stormed back into Library and Technology class with the sharing of their "Selfie Slideshows." The project grew out of a Media Literacy lesson we started back in November in which students looked at pictures on the SmartBoard and developed their own captions. Students quickly realized that people could see the same image and come away with very different impressions. This is a big idea for second graders.
Second graders played with the concepts of images and messages by creating their own pictures in PhotoBooth. They dropped their pictures into PowerPoint and tagged each with a simple thought or caption. In the process, students explored how to use the tools in a slideshow program including backgrounds, themes, transitions and animations. Students chose their favorite slide, which I have compiled for your viewing pleasure.
