Kindergarten Gingerbread Houses

Traditions are foundations that we can return to year after year, helping us to feel grounded and secure in the present by bringing a bit of the past forward. At this time of the year, there are many traditions celebrated both at home and school. One such tradition is gingerbread house making! Kindergartners look forward to this annual tradition with families and friends.

It is amazing what can be constructed with a simple milk carton, frosting, graham crackers and an abundance of creativity and imagination! Of course, candy too!

Patience and problem solving were also key components to the building process. Walls were constructed and some walls fell down! Persistence, creative thinking and more frosting often solved the problem.

Kindergarten friends were focused and intent as the houses began to take shape. Each house was uniquely created with different types of candy such as gum drops, M & M's, licorice, Necco wafers, candy canes and chocolate chips. The landscaping at each property was just as elaborate as playgrounds, benches, trees and walkways were planned and created.

This was a wonderful afternoon filled with yummy treats, creative construction and shared fun with our kindergarten families.

Our Kindergarten friends wish all of you many wonderful shared traditions and possibly new traditions over Winter Break with friends and family!
