Unidad de restaurante en el cuarto grado / Restaurant Unit in fourth grade

A major interest in comida (food) brewed a study in the fourth grade a few months back. Many games were played and worksheets were done that helped introduce and reinforce some of the students’ favorite foods including fruits, vegetables, desserts and drinks. Here! Give it a try and see how many you know:
papitas fritas

perro caliente
queso
pollo frito

fresas
uvas

judías verde
zanahorias

pastelito
galletas dulce
helado

agua de coco
jugo de piña

After an extensive study on food related vocabulary, it was decided that it was time to present our new knowledge with a Restaurant Unit. This curiosity began a journey that included additional fun activities that lend to the practice of communicative skills in a restaurant setting. In addition to vocally practicing restaurant related words, this long-term project provided ample opportunities for the students to practice their written skills as well.

The culminating activity included a restaurante simulation. Each individual, pair or team of “restaurant owners” designed their restaurant name, created the menú including cost of items, and served as cooks, greeters, and waitstaff. Some even included an entertainment piece for ambience by having dancers or Spanish music playing in the background. The presenters thus far have been amazing! ¡Simplemente asombroso! (Simply amazing!)

Mi Casa, Su Casa por Al y Eihab

La Palosa Foodá by Gabriela y Madison

…. and we eagerly await for the debut of the other restaurants. Stay tuned!
