The Chicks are Here!! (Almost!)

Today as we were finishing up lunch, we heard screams from the playground, "The chicks are here!! The chicks are here!!"

The children rushed to the door to see!

But, the chicks were not here!  Farmer Becky and Farmer Kathy, had arrived and brought in a hen and a rooster, and one dozen eggs for us to care for. On Monday, April 13th, the chicks should begin hatching.  They explained what we would need to do to care for the eggs.  Keep them warm, turn them three times a day (even though a hen would turn them about 40!) and add a few ounces of water each day to the incubator.

Once they hatch, we will move them to a brooder box and teach them how to eat and drink.  They will be sooo cute and fluffy!  We cannot wait!

Please drop by and check on the progress.  The chicks will be here for Science Night so you can stop by then if you can't make it before.  This is one of our most exciting projects in Kindergarten!!  And we love all the visitors that come back to see the chicks!
