Kindergarten Collaboration
It is so exciting to engage in collaborative activities with students from other classes. We recently asked our 2nd grade friends to help us with our animal research projects. The older children were so proud to offer their expertise. They helped the kindergarteners search for images online, and they even knew how to print them! Our kindergarteners were ecstatic! The 2nd graders also know where the non-fiction animal books are in the library. They helped their kindergarten friends find books about their animals, and were thrilled to help them read some of the information in the books to answer some of their research questions. There is an inspiring synergy that happens during these kinds of collaborations. The younger students get an exciting glimpse into future skills, and the older students get a chance to take care of younger members of our school community in a fun and productive way.
