Jugando juegos, playing games,
is one of the most proficient ways to learn a language. Games are helpful in
creating contexts in which the language is useful and meaningful. In our
Spanish program, games and game-like activities play a large role in the
acquisition of language. They are powerful tools no matter what age the learner
may be.
Often,
play is described as a child’s work, and games form a natural part of the
child’s learning experience. While some games and game-like activities are
crafted with an emphasis on listening, others involve interactions where young
learners play an active role in speaking as well as in reading and in writing.
There are many advantages of using games in our Spanish Language Program including:
- · motivating and challenging all learning styles; auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic
- · lowering language-learners’ stress
- · helping and encouraging the sustained interest in the target language
- · providing communication practice in the various skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing
- · encouraging participants to interact and communicate, building class cohesion
Ask
your child which is her or his favorite game in our Spanish Language class!
