2014 World Premiere, Stop Motion Animation!!!

Third grade has worked hard on their Stop Motion Animations and are ready to share their efforts with the world! We viewed the first half of the videos as a class and will view the second half later this week. Most students were delighted with their videos, although some felt their videos didn't turn out the way they had originally envisioned.

When asked what they learned, students expressed two main technical skills. First, it takes many, many pictures to create a good movie and second, adding sound effects to the right spot was really important. Although all students feel more comfortable in iMovie, they agreed that more practice was needed before they could consider themselves "experts."  I highlighted for the students the skills needed to bring off this project, including:
  1. Creating a story
  2. Planning a storyline
  3. Identifying characters, sound effects and sometimes scenery
  4. Chunking the project into small pieces
  5. Negotiating story and jobs with a partner
  6. Transferring pictures to the computer
  7. Timing photos
  8. Adding sound effects
Click here to see our movies. We hope you enjoy them!
