I explained that our participants found it convenient to drop their children/grandchildren off at school and enjoy coffee, baked goods and conversation centering around a great book. I shared that the Lower School adult book club is in its second year.
During our book group meeting, we discussed sections of the book that captured our interest and our heart for the first half hour. When Chris Bohjalian joined in at 8:30 by phone from his home in Vermont, we were ready with questions. It was so satisfying to listen to Chris explain what inspired him to write this book and why he structured the story in the way he did.
We would love to have more Lower School adult family members and friends join us for our next meeting on December 8th at 8:00 am in the Lower School library, to discuss The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. This is a captivating tale of mystery, magic and memory that is waiting for us to read and discuss.
