Rosh Hashanah Celebration

Questions arose in our first grade class about the celebration of Rosh Hashanah and Paula Cohen, Director of Community Life in Lower School, graciously offered to visit our classroom. She shared her family traditions in an engaging and beautiful presentation.

Paula set a lovely table for us to gather around that included special items from her family and explained the New Year customs that she grew up with. The students were invited to sing with her, ask questions, and share in the special foods of challah, apples, and honey, which were a most welcome treat!  Paula also read a story to us that helped us to further understand this important Jewish holiday that is celebrated all around the world.  The children listened intently and asked thoughtful questions that brought a deeper meaning to all of us.  Shanah Tovah - have a sweet year!!
