This Week in PE

The past 2 weeks have been an exciting time from Field Fay to Halloween, as well as a surprise celebrity appearance in second grade PE. The past 2 weeks have had a focus on practicing for field day activities as well as some fun holiday games this past week. Health and wellness has also had a Halloween vibe as we talked about neighborhood safety, sportsmanship and nutrition these past 2 weeks.

This past 2 weeks in PE we have focused on preparing our field day activities for last Friday’s event. K- 4th grade did an excellent job of putting practice into action as they had a strong grasp and understanding for each event. 3rd and 4th grade also did an excellent job of showing the rest of the Lower School how the 50 yard dash and tug of conflict were supposed to be done. It was a blast watching these young people compete throughout the day. Some of the relays that were competed in for grades K-4 were as follows:

-Hoop Agility
-Baton Pass
-Hurdles
-Ball Toss
-Scarf Balance
-Soccer shot
-Etc.

Along with this, we also had many holiday activities this past week. We played many games such as:

-Trick or treat
-Ghosts and Goblins
-The Ghosts are coming
-Etc.

During health and wellness we had a celebrity guest appear for the 2nd grade to give his famous Halloween safety talk, which is always a fan favorite of second grade teaching staff. The surprise celebrity appears in the picture below.

Throughout the rest of the week in health and wellness we had a focus on nutrition, sportsmanship and neighborhood safety for the holiday. We talked about some of the following ideas:

-Healthy snacking
-Fair play during cooperative games
-When to cross the street
-Trick or treating rules

Have a great weekend from the PE/ Health/ Wellness Department!
