Third Graders Try Out Yoga
Third graders recently began practicing yoga as a way to calm their minds and bodies and recenter in the middle of a busy day. It was really impressive how quickly the students took to the yoga practice and how willing they were to throw themselves into something new. We have routinely practiced breathing exercises as we have moved from one activity to the next, so practicing yoga seemed like a natural extension.
We hope to make our yoga practice a weekly occurrence in class, and perhaps it will be something that some students incorporate into their life outside of school. In the next couple weeks we will be incorporating yoga as part of our transitions between class activities. We anticipate it will be a wonderful way to help keep our minds and bodies focused and settled as we move into these cold winter months!
