Kindergarten at the Art Museum

Both kindergarten classes took a trip to Philadelphia to enjoy a tour entitled "A is for Art Museum." We were guided through a fascinating array of artwork while reinforcing our knowledge of letters and their corresponding sounds.  From the bus ride, to navigating our way through the museum, there was tremendous excitement in an environment with clear behavioral expectations. Balancing excitement with self-control is an excellent exercise for strengthening emotional and physical self-regulation skills.  Our students were up to the challenge, as they displayed respectful behavior and impressive background knowledge while sharing their ideas with our tour guide.  When we returned from our trip, everyone had an opportunity to draw a picture and write about a favorite part of the experience, thus strengthening literacy skills even further.
