First Grade Jumping Into Music!

Moving in the Music Room-First Week of Music Class!

Susan and Janmarie's First Grade class jumped right into our fun new movement game called "Seven Jumps." It is an accumulative game where students have to listen to musical cues to add a new part of their body each time they hear the violin playing alone. It begins simply enough-we walked around in a circle, clapped our hands responding to the musical cue and just raising one foot and putting it down. But over the course of the song, students have to lift and place their different body parts on the floor on cue with the violin. The violinist is tricky! Sometimes, the violinist holds the note for a short time, but other times, for a longer time, which meant students had to hold their body parts in the air until the note stopped before they put that body part on the floor. This was particularly funny when we had to hold up one foot! At the end, the song takes us all the way down to the floor with our heads touching the floor! (Photo Credits: Janmarie)

Now the other one!
Full body all the way down before we have to all get up again with the musical cue and finish off the dance walking in a
circle to the beat.
