In first grade we read The Mitten Tree, a beautiful story about how one person can make a difference in their community. This prompted us to think about our heroes and how they made or are making a difference. We enjoyed making our own symmetrical mittens and then decided to make a difference with our feathered friends by making mitten shaped bird feeders using crisco and bird seed that we hung on our trees.
First graders have been talking about living like a hero and how they can be heroes every day with their kindness, leadership, courage and joy, inspiring others to do the same!
Please look for our next blog about what makes a hero and the qualities and characteristics they possess.
