Kindergarten Celebrates Trees!

We all enjoyed our field trip to the Morris Arboretum!  Spring is the perfect time to learn about and appreciate our green friends, the trees.  One of the principles that Quakers embrace is the importance of stewardship.  Research shows that there is a direct correlation between time spent with nature and commitment to protecting the earth.  Here are some highlights from our trip...

We played Tree Jeopardy and learned about all of the great things that trees give to us.

We learned about the parts of a tree.

We learned about how the roots spread out under the ground to make the tree more stable.

We played up in the canopy.  This installation, incidentally, was designed by the same architect
who designed our 2 AFS nature playgrounds!

We wrote and drew what we learned about trees on the field trip back in our classroom...

                                                        And in our outdoor classroom!
