Community Partnerships in Kindergarten

We are a school community that greatly values connection.  We get to engage in a variety of activities with our Meeting Partners from second and third grade, and we sit with them during Meeting For Worship.  We have visiting fifth graders read books to us, and we  enjoy a relationship with the eleventh graders, which continues on into next year when the first graders serve as pages to the seniors at special events such as Arbor Day and graduation.

As part of our music study, we recently visited the Upper School Chorus for a demonstration of using the voice as a musical instrument.  These types of partnerships are beneficial for all involved.  The older children feel proud to be in a position of influence and responsibility, and the younger children feel held by the caring mentorship of a larger community. Also, one cannot discount the cuteness factor of seeing the starstruck look in the eyes of our kindergartners!
